Course Description This hybrid soft tissue laser course combines 8 hours of self-paced online instruction with a 4-hour live virtual hands-on training session for dentists and dental hygienists. Participants will develop the foundational knowledge and clinical skills necessary for the safe and effective use of diode lasers in dental practice. The self-paced online component covers laser physics, tissue interaction, safety, clinical applications, treatment protocols, and evidence-based integration of soft tissue lasers into patient care. During the live virtual session, participants will complete guided hands-on exercises using their laser and a soft tissue simulation model (meat specimen) while receiving real-time instruction and feedback from experienced laser educators. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: - Describe the principles of soft tissue laser technology and laser-tissue interaction.
- Demonstrate safe laser operation and appropriate safety protocols.
- Perform foundational soft tissue laser techniques in a simulated environment.
- Apply clinical decision-making for incorporating soft tissue lasers into dental practice.
Course Resources Participants will receive downloadable clinical resources to support implementation, including documentation templates, selected laser safety and office protocol binder documents, patient education brochures for common laser procedures, and informed consent forms.
